This album was inspired by “Lullabyes, Tickles and Fingerplays”— a Facebook page that was started by Early Childhood Educator, Brigid Finucane, and sadly paused in 2022. Several artists were invited to contribute one song per month during the pandemic, and these songs were born during that time.
In 2024, I performed many concerts for young children, worked as a teaching artist with Wolf Trap Early Learning through the Arts and taught songwriting and musical instrument-making (maracas) in schools, where I “tested” the songs. In addition, I started a YouTube channel with snippets of American Sign Language, movement and other educational ideas connected to the songs.
Teaching songwriting and being with young children is one of my lifelong loves, and it’s my hope is that this album will help children learn about and experience all four seasons through song.
