KEYNOTES
These 45 to 90 minute presentations focus on the impact of sound and music on the lives of young children. They are interactive, multicultural and provide sound awareness adventures for care-givers and early childhood educators that present important brain research and information in the field of sound technology. Groups will experience a variety of powerful music activities to help build learning skills and integrate music into standards curriculum.

IN-SERVICE WORKSHOPS
In these half or full-day in-Service Trainings for care-givers librarians and educators, Katherine shows ways to integrate new music into all areas of curriculum: art, math, language, social studies and science, food, movement, games and more, that meet US national standards. Participants explore the effects of sound, and participate in a variety of hands on-activities, including one make-and-take, creativity adventures, listening exercises, movement, games and more. Handouts provided.

Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta Music assemblies are 45 to 60 minutes in length and can be targeted to specific age groups as well as mixed ages (Pre-K-5th/6th). Songs and activities can also connect directly to curriculum and provide students with a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the song writing process. The highly participatory performances thoroughly engage students in learning through call-and-response, zipper songs, American Sign Language, zany props, humor and movement. Adequate time is allotted for questions.

ARTIST RESIDENCIES
Residencies are from one whole day to three whole weeks in duration. Curriculum ties are emphasized! During a typical residency, each class writes and records one song. Katherine offers up to five classes per day, and three 50-minute sessions are suggested for each class. The school also designates a small quiet space (with a desk and flip chart) for Katherine to use as an “artist’s studio” during the residency. Students are encouraged to visit Katherine’s studio and observe and ask questions during studio time. A kick-off interactive performance (school assembly or community performance) of Katherine’s own award-winning songs introduces the craft of song writing, and motivates the students prior to the residency. A closing performance where students perform the songs they have written is also offered.

No limit on audience capacity, providing adequate sound system is available.
